The Department of Physics provides Under Graduate and Post Graduate Courses since 1980 and 2001 respectively. 30 students for B.Sc and 10 for M.Sc are accommodated. From the beginning itself a good academic standard is maintained. The Department achieved 100% results in B.Sc in (2002-2003) and 96% results in (2003-2004).


EXTENSION ACTIVITIES

In addition to the curricular matters several co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are conducted by the Department for the betterment of the students and for the development of society. A science forum had been formed in 1982 and many discussions and seminars are conducted so that both students and teachers get scientific approach towards the solution of social problems. A science club formed in 1993 provides scientific awareness to the students. Seminars, discussions on science topics, Intercollegiate Quiz Competition, and National Science Day Celebration are the main activities of the club.

ENERGY CONSERVATION CLUB

An Energy Conservation Club associated with ECP of Central Government is also working under the auspices of the Department since 2002. Seminars and quiz competition regarding conservation of energy by eminent persons are the main activities of the club. The club also conducts awareness camps in the rural areas about the energy conservation. The club conducted a National Seminar on 20th December, 2003. Dr. M. G. Rajagoapal, Director of Energy Management Centre, Thiruvanathapuram inaugurated the seminar. Prof. C. P. Sunilkumar, Government Engineering College Thrissur presented a paper on the occasion.

ENDOWMENT

In memory of Late Sri. K. Venkita Subrahmanian former Professor Physics Department, an endowment award was instituted by the department for awarding prizes to the toppers amongst the graduate and post graduate students during the respective academic years.
