Nair Service Society, a great
social organization of long standing founded by Sri Mannath
Padmanabhan, added Sri Vyasa N.S.S. College to the impressive
list of educational institutions run by it in the beginning of
the academic year 1971- 72. Originally established in 1967 as Sri
Vyasa College by the Jnana Ashram which has been doing great
service in the spiritual field throughout the country for several
years, this institutions has been catering, albeit in a modest
way, to the higher educational needs of a large part of
Thalappilly Taluk in a remarkable manner.
The
foundation stone for the College building was laid by Sri M.K.K.
Nair on 9th April, 1967. The College started functioning on 10th
July 1967 with four batches of Pre-degree students and in 1968
the student strength rose to six batches of 80 students each.
Realizing that work in the educational field was hampering its
main objective of spiritual work, the Jnana Ashram in 1971
decided to entrust the College to a responsible social body
capable of giving shape to its ambitious plans. The Nair Service
Society with its immense experience in the management of
educational institutions at all levels, gladly accepted this
responsibility.

Description Of the
College
The college is situated in a perfect naturalistic setting of
the hill area that the educational experience here is enamoring
and enrapturing. Just beside the college is the sanctum
sanctorum, the Dakshinamurthi temple and the Jnanasharam, which
complete the perfect blend of sanctity, austerity and nature's
beauty - the elementary and essential requisites of an
educational institution.
The way down the woods
are "lovely dark and deep", so capturing and captivating that for
a moment the pupils and the travelers forget 'the promises to
keep' and the miles to go. Though the way is pretty long the
natural beauty makes the journey a blissful event every morning.
This morning walk refreshes, rejuvenates and rehabilitates not
only the body but also the soul. The renowned educational
philosopher Rousseau remarked - "break the walls, burn the books
and throw the children into the bounty of nature". Some of the
college walls are broken out of age and antiquity or rather the
walls of hazards and shackles in the path of education are
broken.
The
teacher - pupil relationship is remarkable for its uniqueness.
The college has an unparallel group of teachers who are well
experienced and dedicated. Their wise and timely rewards and
retribution bestowed on the students are with parental care and
affection.
