ATTENDANCE AND PROMOTION
 

 

1) The academic year is divided into three terms as follows

First Term :- June 2004 to August 2004

Second Term :- August 2004 to December2004

Third Term :- December 2004 to March 2005

2) College class timing will be from 10am to 4pm and lunch interval will be from 1 pm to 2pm. The first three periods on a day constitute the first session and the next two periods constitute the second session. Absence during one period will be reckoned as absence for that session and absence for that session absence during one period in each session will be reckoned as absence for the entire day.

3) The attendance and progress certificate (APC) which is absolutely necessary for promotion and admission to the university examination will be issued only when a student has sufficient attendance and has shown satisfactory academic progress.

4) The APC shall not be issued unless the student has completed the course of institution to the satisfaction of the college authorities and his/her progress and conduct have been satisfactory.

5) Students whose attendance falls below the minimum required (75%) shall apply for condensation through Principal to the University. The application for condensation shall be accompanied by a treasury receipt of Rs.100/- the reason for each days absence will be to be explained. In the case of absence on account of illness, a medical certificate also has to be submitted. Condensation up to 14 days may be granted by the Vice Chancellor and up to 24 days, may be granted by the Syndicate.

No application for condensation will be recommended by the principal unless he is satisfied that the shortage of attendance was due to causes by beyond the control of the student. Ordinarily only prolonged illness will be absence without leave will not be condoned under any circumstances. Applications not attested by the tutor will not be forwarded to the University under any circumstances.

The College Tutorial Committee is in charge of the attendance of the students. Four copies of the monthly statement of the class attendance are prepared by the Tutor. They are signed by the student tutorial leaders, the H O D and Principal and kept in the office and Department. An attendance register is maintained by all tutors.
